Frequently Asked Questions PDF Print E-mail

1. What is your price?

Many people are tempted to ask this question first and consider it the most important when interviewing a prospective disc jockey service. This is not true. Price is important but not the determining factor. You want to get all of the information about the DJ and the services then take price into consideration. Look for getting the most for your money. Remember one DJ may charge less because the company is less experienced or is not as well equipped to handle your function.

S
teve & Company's pricing is extremely reasonable. We provide excellent service with a great reputation, 25 years of professional experience, and very high demand for our services.

Remember the law of supply and demand. There is a reason why our services have a high-demand, they are worth it. Shop around and look for the best over all package that fits your needs.

2. Do you use professional pro audio gear? What are some of the brand names you use?

PC DJ, Crown, QSC, Crest, Rane, Bag End, E.A.W., JBL, Shure, MTX, and Denon are the preferred professional choices of DJs. If a DJ tells you name brands that you can buy at the local electronic store (Best Buy, Circuit City etc.) chances are they are not using pro audio gear. Home Hi-Fi gear is not made to hold up to the demands of repeat performances of professional use.

Steve & Company uses state of the art audio equipment and software from

3. How many years of experience do you have?

This is a commonly asked question and is very important. But the question should be specific for your event such as; how many wedding receptions have you performed at?   Or how many of a certain event have youj performed? You must determine the exact area of experience.

Steve & Company, which has over 25 years of experience, has performed at over 1,000 wedding receptions and thousands of parties, corporate and public events.  You may want to treat yourself to a real professional DJ like the ones you will find at our company.

4. Do you provide back up gear in case of an emergency?

Chances are nothing will happen at your wedding reception, but if it does, is your DJ prepared to trouble shoot the problem? Do they have back-up equipment on location to get the party back on track?

Steve & Company will have extra cables, fuses, basic tools, CD player, amplifier, mixer, and CDs at your event.

5. Is your DJ service insured?

If the service is professional and reputable, they will be insured. Most DJ services will at least have liability insurance for $1,000,000. Some will also have their equipment insured.

Steve & Company is completely insured, including liability insurance.

6Are we guaranteed the DJ of our choice the day of the event?

Some DJ companies have more than one DJ working for them. While the company may have been in business for years, your DJ may have been hired last week.

Steve & Company will appoint the DJ (if available) you've selected and will be the one performing at your event with our Premiun packages. We have trained all of our DJs and provide references on the specific DJ who will be assigned to your event.

7. May we call three of your references?

A good DJ service keeps current references. The list that we provide will have more than 50 names and will not be more than six months old.

Steve & Company will provide you a complete current list od refernces. This is an excellent indicator of the quality you can expect from us. If you are not comfortable with calling strangers, then you can call any of the reception/banquet halls, photographer, or video services that we have worked with.

8.  How will the DJ be dressed?

Our DJ service will wear tuxedos at your wedding.  Our DJ will be in front of your family and guests all night and we want to look and act professional.

For all other events, the DJs will always be dressed appropriately for the occassion.

9. How early will the DJ be set up?

Steve & Company takes the opportunity to do a sound and light check before any guests arrive. This usually takes about one hour.

10.  Ask if they allow requests from you and your guests?

Our DJs will always take requests form the audience and work them into their routine. Our professional DJs will blend requests with songs that will get your guests up and moving. The art of a DJ is timing, and this takes experience, which is the strength of Steve & Company.

11.  What type of music is available?

Remember it is not the number of MP3s or CDs we carry but more importantly the content of the media. We are always cuurent and make sure that we carry the latest hit songs. Our collection of well over 2000 hits reflects a wide variety of differnet types of music. Also,  remember that during the dancing segment of a wedding reception an average of 65 to 75 songswill be played, so you will hear nothing but hits all night long. This will keep your dance floor full all night and everyone will have a great time.

12. Do I need a light show and what will it do for me?  Why a light show?

Through our experience we have found that a good light show will help keep the crowd on the dance floor longer because they are having more fun.  A standard light show is included as part of our DJ service.

There are two things you want your light show to do: make the dance floor warm and inviting and turn it into a fantasyland of dazzling action, sweeping movement and intense color.
